NORTH EAST BAR ANTLER SEES RED – AND LAUNCHES GINGER FRIDAY….
A LEADING NORTH EAST bar is seeing red, with an offer to feed ginger people for free on one of the hottest days of the year.
Antler, at 55 Degrees North, Newcastle, believes an Alpine themed bar and restaurant is the best place for those who burn easily to stay cool during the current heatwave.
And with that in the mind it plans to hold Ginger Friday, which means that between noon and 3pm any pale-skinned, red heads can keep out of the sun – and get a free main course this week (27July).
With temperatures on Friday set to hit the high 20s, the owners of Antler hope it will be a welcome retreat for anyone who suffers in the sun.
The bar, which offers a range of lunchtime food offerings including schnitzels, steak and cheese baguettes, salads and homemade pizzas, will give the redhead their lunch for free – and there’ll also be a free pizza for their friends if they come in a group of five or more.
“People with ginger hair get a hard time of it quite often,” said a spokesman for Antler.
“And their lives are made more difficult in weather like this when it takes no time at all for them to burn.
“We hope we’re going to offer them a welcome retreat, with the option if they feel brave enough, to sit in our outdoor garden or just to stay inside.”
