North East performers Channy & Jamie Lee Harrison host ‘United By Arts’ show at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House Saturday 20th March 2021
The Tyne Theatre and Opera House have announced United by Arts Newcastle, a community-initiated show featuring talented performers from across the region, taking place on Saturday 20th March 2021.
United by Arts is a socially distanced, family friendly show helping one of our city’s oldest theatres continue the amazing work they do whilst getting an audience back into their venue. Together with a full live band, North East Artists Channy and Jamie Lee Harrison have teamed up to host and joint headline this special show at the prestigious Tyne Theatre and Opera House.
UK Pop Songstress Channy has landed her some impressive support slots for artists such as Jess Glynne, Sigala, Olly Murs, Nathan Sykes, Scouting for Girls, Tulisa and many more. As an independent artist Channy has hit the spotlight on some of the UK’s most established stages, performing at Metro Radio Arena, Bents Park, O2 Arena London, Newcastle’s Virgin Money Unity Arena and headlined her own sold-out show at the O2 Academy Newcastle’s Main Stage, as well as a sold-out UK tour.
Channy has said; “The Tyne Theatre and Opera House will always hold a special place in my heart, as it’s the very first venue that I performed in as an artist. To then be coming full circle to host this joint headline show with Jamie, it really excites me.
Although socially distanced it will be packed with other North East talent and have a real community feel’
Co-headliner Jamie Lee Harrison, a 26-year-old British Singer Songwriter, was born and raised in Newcastle and a popular part of the North East music scene. After performing live on national prime time TV, the singer-songwriter released a handful of singles including a self-released effort ‘Reflection’, which was co-written with Lucy Spraggan, and ‘Powerful’. Some of Jamie’s live performance highlights so far include his annual sellout shows at Newcastle Cathedral, hometown sets at the Utilita Arena and his UK headline tour. To date he has shared stages with incredible names in pop like Boney M, Lucy Spraggan, Sean Kingston, Vengaboys & Alexandra Burke. Jamie Lee Harrison has said: I’ve had the chance to do a short performance at the Tyne Theatre in the past, but to be able to host my own show here along with Channy is very exciting. The venue is stunning.
Our whole industry is having to adapt to constantly changing circumstances and I am extremely grateful to the theatre for working with us to make this work. Our local community need live music, some normality and the arts need an audience. I couldn’t think of a better place to do it.”
Tickets for ‘United by Arts Newcastle’ are now on sale and are being sold in socially distanced groups of 1-6 (within households/support bubbles). In addition to the socially distanced seating, the theatre is taking numerous other precautions to ensure the safety of their staff and audiences including the compulsory wearing of masks, and temperatures being taken on arrival. The full safety guidelines for the show can be found on the event page on the Tyne Theatre and Opera House website. As an independent venue, the Tyne Theatre and Opera House relies entirely on ticket sales and donations to survive and keep the theatre’s 150+ year heritage alive. In addition to buying tickets for upcoming shows, you can also support the theatre directly by visiting their Crowdfunder campaign, looking to raise funds to help secure its future after a dramatic loss of income as the result of Covid-19 restrictions.
