FELIZ NAVIDAD – FROM EL PASO 

Pigs in very hot blankets and turkey with a hot rum twist are just some of the Christmas treats on offer at Newcastle newest Mexican restaurant.

From 1 to 24 December El Paso, at Osborne Road, Jesmond, is serving a Christmas Fayre menu which combines traditional festive flavours with the tastes of South America.

And drinks are on the house for those who book before 12 November.

The special menu’s starters include a three tier tapas of pigs in blankets with garlic and chilli tomatoes, breaded manchego with cranberry relish and a sticky Latino turkey skewer.

A selection of meats, cheese, bread and olives are also available along with a vegetarian option of feta tortilla, with pumpkin, spinach, sweet potato and pine nut pesto.

Main course options are seafood and chorizo paella, wild mushroom and halloumi taco, with salsa and corn fritter and turkey and chorizo burrito with rice, beans, cheese and a hot rum sauce.

Rounding off the meal, diners can opt for either fresh pineapple in white rum with coconut ice cream, baked chocolate and banana enchiladas or homemade churros with butterscotch sauce.

Two drinks packages – ideal for larger parties – are also available. The first, priced at £5 per person, comprises either a mug of warm mulled wine, or a glass of sangria or fizz, with tea or coffee after the meal and the second, priced at £8 per person offers an additional glass of red or white rioja, a bottle of Sol or a flavoured margarita.

However, those who book before 12 November will receive the first drinks package for each of their party free of charge.

The Christmas Fayre menu costs £16.50 for two, or £19.50 for three courses and
