NEWCASTLE RESIDENTS TO GET VISIT FROM FOUNDATION BUS FILLED WITH FREE FOOTBALLS TO HELP AREAS-IN-NEED

Foundation staff will be out on the road in the branded mini-bus this Thursday (May 14) delivering footballs to Newcastle’s West and East End.

Funding from partner Liontrust and Newcastle United kit sponsor PUMA have generously donated the footballs as part of their contribution to the #UnitedAsOne programme, which provides support to vulnerable people during COVID-19. 

The Foundation who will distribute them across Byker, Blakelaw, Scotswood, Cowgate, Benwell, Walker, Newbiggin Hall, Westgate Road and finishing at houses close to Murray House – the location of the Foundation’s future operational complex.

With many people struggling to exercise or stay active during this period of lockdown, the coaches will aim to give families in-need of support a ball and are targeting locations close to the Foundation’s Premier League KICKS and Primary Stars School sites. 

The giveaway follows the Foundation’s work last week that saw coaches distribute 320 activity packs – funded by Foundation partner Liontrust – to the children of vulnerable families across the region, offering engaging activities to help with their physical and mental wellbeing.

Newcastle United Foundation, Head of Operations, Steve Mack, said: “We’re very grateful to PUMA for donating the footballs for us to giveaway and we will continue to target the areas who need our support the most. 

“We are aware of a number of locations, close to where we would usually run our community and schools programmes, that will be missing playing football and perhaps if they received something as simple as one of these footballs, it might put a smile on their faces.

“Keep an eye out for the mini-bus, as we’ll be driving around all over Newcastle’s East and West End to distribute them on Thursday afternoon.”
