SAN LORENZO SHORTLISTED FOR NATIONAL AWARD
A NORTH EAST restaurant is hoping to say ciao to the opposition after being shortlisted as a finalist for a national award.
San Lorenzo at Gosforth’s High Street, Newcastle has reached the final for the Best Team award at the English Italian Awards 2018, which looks to highlight the best Italian businesses in the country.
To get to the final, restaurants must rely on their diners, with members of the public voting for the eateries they believe deserve special recognition.
More than 30,000 public votes were cast over a range of categories, including Best Italian Authentic Menu, Best Pasta and Best Newcomer.
And award winners will be announced at a black tie Gala Final on Sunday 7 October at Manchester’s Principal Hotel, which aims to celebrate Italian culture in Britain.
Stuart Young, director of Cyclone Leisure Group which owns San Lorenzo, was delighted to discover that the restaurant had been selected as a finalist.
“This is a testament to the hard work of the restaurant team, who go above and beyond to provide an excellent service for our diners,” said Stuart.
“Being shortlisted for any award is fantastic, but one that we have been voted for by our customers is especially rewarding.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who voted for us and we are looking forward to finding out the result in October.”
San Lorenzo was also shortlisted as a finalist for the Best Family Restaurant award at the English Italian Awards 2017.
