Save our Theatres! Local City Guide Website Aims to Raise Money for our Struggling Theatres

InNewcastle.co.uk, a local entertainment and city guide, have launched a range of A4 photo prints in collaboration with a local artist and JAM Prints & Marketing, to fundraise for theatres in and around Newcastle, helping them get through the current pandemic.

So far, they have together raised just over £3,000 and are looking to increase this greatly, in order to give our theatres a chance of survival.

COVID-19 has had a devasting impact on the arts industry, with most theatres likely to stay closed until next year. These venues rely on ticket sales and donations in the most part, without this income, they will remain shut until viable to open.

Aaron Whittington, the founder of InNewcastle.co.uk said:

‘’Being an entertainment website, we have had the opportunity to visit these fantastic venues and have seen many shows. I feel that during this tough time, it just felt right to want to give back and attempt to raise some money for them.”

There are 12 different prints to choose from, all of which are drawings of the most beloved theatres in and around Newcastle. They are available to buy on Etsy as individual prints, or all pictured together.

Artist Elizabeth Carins, who was commissioned to design the prints, said:

‘’It means a great deal to have been selected to design this piece. Over the years I have been to many of the North East theatres, to enjoy numerous music gigs and performances; definitely some of the highlights of my life. The arts mean a lot to me and often inspire me in my own creative work.’’

These portraits can be now purchased online via their Etsy store; Theatre Prints Co.
