Friday 7th June 2019 – Show starts 8pm – £5 tickets
Stand-up comedian Si Beckwith has the same resolution every year; ‘Get Lush’. Sometimes he fails at this, but he tries. This comedy show is about trying to be a little better, and why trying is what it’s all about.
Expect jokes, stories and a lot of uses of the word ‘lush’. There’s also a bit with drawings. It’s mostly though, just a silly boy trying his hardest.
‘Get Lush’ could mean going to the gym more, reading more books, or most often, just buying a leather jacket and some fags. Si Beckwith tries to do all of these things, and sometimes falls short, but he’ll get lush or, well not quite die trying, but probably get out of breath a bit.
As heard on BBC Newcastle.
“Razor sharp wit” – The Crack
“Hints of surrealism thrown in with pop culture led commentary” – The Yorker
“Absurdly charming and funny” – NARC Magazine
“Amiable surrealism, silliness and nose for pop culture.” – York Press
Support comes from rising comedy talent and BBC Newcastle and BBC Tees Radio Host (Grin Up North Show) Louise Young.
