The Tyne Theatre and Opera House is a Grade 1 listed theatre rated opened in 1867. The building has key elements of national importance, including the lavish auditorium and wooden stage machinery. It is a social hub of entertainment, hosting variety performances, comedy, ballet, musicals and live concerts.
Northern Stage is the largest producing theatre company in the North East of England. Bringing modern classics to Newcastle at their home on the Newcastle University campus in the centre of town. Regarded as one of the top-eleven producing theatres in the UK, they have built a reputation for fresh and relevant productions.
The People’s Theatre is the leading non-professional theatre company in the North of England and one of the largest and oldest established in the country. A genuine community theatre, every show they do is produced entirely by their members.
The Customs House in South Shields is South Tyneside’s biggest venue for arts and entertainment. They bring a host of productions to the region from both local and further a field.
