ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR AS THE HOPPINGS RETURNS

ONE OF the North East’s most loved and longest standing events is all set to return next month (June) after an absence of two years.

And the promise by the new organisers of the Hoppings – the large fair that arrives annually at Newcastle’s Town Moor – is that it will be bigger and better than ever before.

The fair – which this year marks its 140th anniversary – has not taken place since 2019 because of Covid.

But Crow Events, which took over the operating of the Hoppings from The Freemen of Newcastle, has promised to make up for lost time, with some of Europe’s “biggest, fastest and wildest rides” on offer.

More than 450 rides and attractions will be available to visitors, from the sedate to the scary, when the Hoppings kicks off from 17-25 June.

These include classic favourites such as Magic Mouse Rollercoaster, the Ghost Train, Dodgems and Fun House taking up residence alongside white knuckle experiences for thrill seekers such as Tagada, Extreme, and Star Flyer.

Other top experiences include Reverse Bungee, a firm favourite for those with nerves of steel and the ability to stand being catapulted 150 feet up in the air and encounter 4.8 G force, and the chilling Ice Jet which is a turbo charged version of a Waltzer.

And guests can also enjoy a new version of the high flying Super Trooper ride, which will be making its debut this year.

But the really young have also not been forgotten, with scores of family friendly rides, suitable for children of all ages.

Ryan Crow of Crow Events said the team were very excited to be bringing the event back home.

“This will be the first time the Hoppings have been at the Town Moor since 2019 and we’ve been working tirelessly to bring the most fantastic line-up of some of Europe’s top attractions,” he said.

“We know people will have really missed it and so we’re determined to make this year one that everyone will really remember.”

Details of new additions for this year’s event will be fully revealed in the next few weeks.
