We at were invited down to the VIP day at the brand new Angry Birds Adventure Golf at INTU Metrocentre. So how better than to get the thoughts of not only the adults but children too. So we sent our resident child experts Alfie, Callum and Dylan accompanied by their parents (of course!) to see what fun was to be had.

Swing into action with a huge 36 hole indoor golf course open now at Intu Metrocentre.. the 18,000 sq ft site stretches across the upper and lower mall levels and can be reached through the dining quarter in the Qube zone.

You have the choice of two 18 hole courses to choose from or you can play both – Pigtroplis or Bird Island. These courses will bring you into the world of the Angry Birds 2 the Movie so you will get to see all the familiar characters and scenes.

We were in a group of 5 (2 Adults and 3 Children) but you can play as a group of six in total if need be. We registered at the front desk and then decided before playing our first stop would be for food to get us energised and ready to take on the action. So we stopped in the Angry Birds Cafe Bar for a some pizza and drinks. The kids decided on Salami Pizza which they kids described as ‘Brilliant’  Looking across the menu it is kid friendly and reasonably priced if you fancy a bite to eat. The kids ate away whilst we waited for a member of staff to inform us once it was our turn. You can also see your name on a screen so you wont miss it!

Once called up we picked our clubs and the excitement grew among Dylan, Alfie and Callum and maybe even myself and Dennis!

I love trying all different kinds of crazy golf out as there a a few themed courses popping up now like Ghetto Golf, Mr Mulligans Space Golf or at Lane 7 in Newcastle –  so if your looking to do this as a family or even in couples before or after food, it’s definitely a fun one to do. From the get go staff were welcoming and friendly with myself, partner and the three kids… even when my middle one was a little frustrated as he wasn’t getting the Hole in one’s like the others were the ‘Caddy’ was there to give him a few pointers and tips to get him around happier. Callum our eldest (13) thought the staff were really child friendly and were very talkative with us and always on hand when we needed help.

We completed the pigtropolis course and had brilliant laughs from start to finish, laughing at shots, putting and mammy and daddy failing where the kids were obviously better!

On occasion the only problem were that the balls kept coming off the course which got the children very frustrated at times but this may have been through hitting them too hard and not knowing their own strength. However may a bit more of a barrier would have helped stop this. The different obstacles on the course were fun to look at and at times equally as challenging but fun to complete.

The youngest at 9 years old Dylan really enjoyed him self more so the fact he didn’t come last which he normally always does. Alfie thought picking the flags up when your balls were potted was great, the caddy’s were every welcoming and helped us when we got stuck on the course.

As a parent what is great is that having two courses – and having only tried one gives you a reason for another day out the kids can look forward to another time which the boys are super excited about now.

The lay out of the two courses is brilliantly spaced so you don’t get in each other’s ways. There is a gift shop also when you come out which is very accessible and some very cool merchandise is there for you if affordability allows.

Overall its all about the kids, and they loved it and cant wait to come back. Its great for the Metrocentre to have family activities coming back like this as ever since Metroland left there has been a void for family fun here.

Ticket prices start at £8.95 per person for 18 holes of golf, with special deals and discounts available for families and groups
