Gateshead Summer Fest

Following our Summer Festival Debut in 2019, we return after a hiatus due to the pandemic.

Summer fest is held at Gateshead Rugby Club in Low Fell and is brought to you by the team behind the ever-popular Gateshead Beer & Music Festival and the Gateshead Gin Festival.

What is Summer Fest? “We are looking to bring the Summer Vibes to Low fell with our very own  Cocktail & Gin Bars! We will also see the return of the Prosecco bar as well as a huge selection of Ciders and Lagers. All this will be complimented with a great selection of Summer Inspired Food options.”

As with our annual Beer & Music Festival, you can expect a fantastic line-up of music, which will be hosted on our main stage in the Marquee. 

In Addition to all of this we are adding a fantastic line-up of Family entertainment for the Sunday afternoon. 

Sunday will also play host to our theme day, which is Flower Power Sunday, so dust off your brightest outfits and help bring a splash of Colour to Summer Fest, with the best costumes winning some great prizes.

Our Music line-up features some of the most sought-after bands on the local festival circuit.

Our Saturday line-up includes South Shields favourites and one of our most requested bands The Understudies You will not be disappointed, expect a classic set of Rock, Pop, Punk and Indie.

The Manchester Anthems will take you back to the Hacienda/Madchester era with a stunning live tribute to Stone Roses, Oasis, Happy Mondays, The Smiths, Primal Scream, James, Inspiral Carpets, Charlatans and so much more.

After a great Festival debut in 2021, we are welcome back The Pretty weeds to perform a fantastic set of floor fillers.

Who doesn’t love a bit of the 80’s? The Reflex are an exhilarating 80’s experience – including songs by Haircut 100, Prince, Cutting Crew, Simple Minds, Rick Astley, Tears for Fears, J. Geils Band, Human League and many more. Re-live the fantastic 80’s with this 100% live band.

Jen & Liv Fantastic Northeast Singing Duo – Jen & Live perform all over the Northeast either at events or busking. Two best friends who perform Pop Hip Hop, Contemporary, R & B together… They were recently featured in the Chronicle busking whilst Tyson Fury watched/danced.

Our Sunday Line-up also includes a great afternoon on family entertainment,

The Britpack are a popular band on the local music scene, the band are a fantastic 4 piece playing the best of the  90’s, Britpop, Indie and Rock n Roll.

We welcome back the Phil Davids Good times Band, this high energy band are a top quality function band that play Soul, Funk, R & B and Pop Covers. One not to be missed!

The ever-popular Bessie and the Zinc Buckets return to our stage for an hour of Rockabilly Mayhem. Hill-billy bluegrass, some rock and roll, and some classic rock sounds from Black Sabbath, or U2. Random versions of the music of Dark Side of The Moon with the lyrics of Dire Straits Money for Nothing, which last heard in the Maggie back in May 2010. How about the family favorite Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, or even the pop classic sounds of The Bay City Rollers. Anything is possible as they don’t actually plan a gig, they play requests, no matter what they will have a go at it.

The Straits Uk are the perfect band for our Sunday teatime slot, bringing the Sounds of Dire Straits to Gateshead.

Founded in 2018, The Straits UK are made up of six musicians all with a passion for delivering quality music and performance every time. Residing in the North East of England, the idea to form a tribute to Dire Straits originated with the frontman and drummer, who happen to be father and son. They have both been life-long Dire Straits fans, meaning attention to detail is second to none.

Performing all the hits from The Dire Straits back catalogue, with authenticity that has been likened to ‘listening to the real thing’ by many.

Two Metres Apart, We are thrilled to have booked one of the most in demand party bands on the circuit! This incredible band has an amazing eclectic array of party anthems that will have you singing and dancing along.

Two Metres Apart are a new party band hailing from Sunny South Shields by the Sea. Made up from some of the North Easts top musicians, one of the region’s leading comics and a cracking bassist.

The band have had fantastic  reviews from wherever they’ve played and have built up a great following in a a short space of time. They unashamedly play songs that make people dance and hopefully, also have a giggle during the shows

‘Love, Sophie’ is an acoustic duo providing a fresh, versatile tone with a set list of music ranging from 80s upbeat to modern, chilled live lounge. Providing vocals from Sophie Gordon, a young female artist accompanied by highly skilled guitarist, Jordan Love.

Sunday is family entertainment day with a host of activities and live entertainment running from 2pm to 6pm.

We have two magicians performing across the afternoon with Martin Duffy and Chris Cross.

Martin Duffy has over 30 years’ experience entertaining in venues all over the North East and of course lots of front rooms and village halls. Over the years Martin’s reputation has grown from strength to strength, thanks to his dedication to his profession and charismatic showmanship. He has been booked regularly by most local Councils for Fun Days and family events in Newcastle, Gateshead, Durham, Northumberland and Tyne & Wear.

Chris Cross has performed his tricks worldwide – from New York to New Zealand, Bahrain to Dubai, London to Paris & most places in-between! Some previous bookings have seen Chris Cross entertain many celebrities and he’s even performed for British & International Royalty.

Meet the farm animals with “Animals about town”.  

We are an established small holding based in County Durham we have an interest in rare and heritage breeds and because we are a small farm our animals are well handled and friendly.

We specialise in bringing animals into the lives of children allowing them to handle and develop their knowledge whilst having fun.

Crafts galore with the “Kiln Pottery Studio”. Opportunities to  paint pottery as well as other crafts.

We will also have a face painter, garden games and other activities.
