Hey Diddle Diddle: A Christmas Spectacular 19 November – 8 January

Audiences in Newcastle are in for a treat this Christmas as Kitchen Zoo, the north east!s favourite family theatre company, teams up with Northern Stage for Hey Diddle Diddle: A Christmas Spectacular!

Children aged 6 and under and their grown-ups are invited to Northern Stage from 19 November to enjoy a festive cabaret. But this is no ordinary performance, as it stars all your favourite fairytale characters!

With Nero (the cat who plays the fiddle) and Lazzo (the little dog who laughs) hosting, the pair bring together their nursery rhyme friends to share their own special stories and skills. With appearances from the likes of the Hickory Dickory Flea Circus, the famous dare-devil egg Humpty Dumpty, Hey Diddle Diddle is a fun-living, music-filled adventure with your favourite characters as you!ve never seen them before!

Kitchen Zoo, who have created the producEon with Northern Stage, are excited to be returning to Stage 3. Kitchen Zoo co-founder and Director Bob Nicholson, says:

We are thrilled to be working with Northern Stage again this Christmas. Hey Diddle Diddle has been created especially for younger audiences and their grown-ups. It!s a Christmas feast of familiar characters, rhymes and lots of music, puppets and chances to join in.”

Hey Diddle Diddle follows previous sell out Christmas performances co-produced by Kitchen Zoo and Northern Stage including Wolf! and The Three Bears at Christmas. Like these previous productions, every performance is relaxed making it an ideal first theatre experience for younger children or a celebrating for those with additional needs.

Hannah Goudie-Hunter, Kitchen Zoo Zoo Co-founder and performer explains: “We want everyone to be able to enjoy our performances. Everyone is welcome and the space is relaxed.

There is no pressure to keep quiet or sit sJll – it!s too exciJng for that! We know taking younger children or those with disabiliJes to the theatre can seem daunJng for parents and carers but we try to make it a magical fesJve event for everyone. We love to see and hear the excitement of the audience and we can’t wait to get started!”
