LASH EXTENSION REVIEW – Newcastle Hair & Beauty Clinic
Katie Meehan was invited to try out eye lash extensions at Newcastle Hair & Beauty, so after trying them here’s what Katies thoughts were..
Mascara is my enemy, I absolutely hate applying it and if I can ever get away with not doing it, I’ll skip it. I have incredibly short, stumpy eyelashes and I struggle with oily eyelids and mascara smothering everywhere. It’s a real pain. I visited Newcastle Hair and Beauty Clinic to try out their eyelash extensions, I’ve had lash extensions before and really liked them, however, they are pretty difficult to upkeep.
It takes around an hour for the process, you have to keep your eyes closed and each lash is individually placed. I asked for very natural lashes with an emphasis on the outer corner, I do not like dramatic lashes as I have small eyes and it can very easily look very overpowering. Often lashes can look too long on me. During the treatment, it is very relaxing and you can barely feel a thing. It definitely does not hurt.
My lashes lasted around 4 days without any shedding, a few started to fall out but this is normal as your natural lashes grow and fall out all of the time, therefore the fake lash coming with it. It is advised that after a week or two, you go back for a fill in.
The lashes can tend to twist and curl up, so you have to constantly brush them and be very careful. It’s hard to apply eyeshadow and eyeliner with the lashes, so if you are into wearing a lot of intricate eye looks, it is definitely something worth noting that it’s harder to access your lid space. You’re not allowed to get your lashes wet for a few days afterwards, as the glue is still drying. This is easily avoided if you’re careful in the shower.
I loved the look of my lashes and I was very happy with the way they turned out. Newcastle Hair and Beauty Clinic is a beautiful salon and all of the staff are very professional. I would definitely go back for treatments in the future, they sometimes have a great deal on, where you can get 3 treatments for a set price (usually around £60) and some of the treatments include a spray tan, manicure, waxing, massages and more.
Overall, lash extensions are high maintenance to keep up, due to the infills and constant brushing, however they look great and it’s lovely to be able to wake up in the morning and just pop on a little bit of makeup. It definitely cuts down time on my morning routine and I find I wear a lot less eye makeup overall because my eyes already look good.
