MARVEL UNIVERSE LIVE Review Utilita Arena

Marvel fans assemble for a live, action packed battle to defend the universe from evil. Following a hugely successful first tour, Marvel Universe LIVE! is back with a brand new show featuring more than 20 of your favourite marvel super heroes and villains for 2019. In this all-new production, produced by Feld Entertainment, Spider Man, The Avengers and The Guardians of the Galaxy joins forces with Doctor Strange as they battle against Loki. It’s a race against time to recover the Wand of Watoomb before Loki gains control. The Wand of Watoomb, an ancient artifact, will allow Loki to achieve his eternal quest to crown himself ruler of the universe. Iron Man, Thor, Black Panther and Black Widow are hot on their tail though using all of their powers to thwart their plans and recover the Wand of Watoomb before it falls into Loki’s hands. The all-new show takes families on an adventure against Nebula who teams up with Loki and Green Goblin… but do they succeed, you’ll have to find out for yourself! Throughout the show, there are cutting-edge special effects, pyrotechnics, and impressive 3D video projection mapping in this completely new thrilling adventure. With aerial stunts, martial arts and daring motorcycle skills, fans of all ages will be immersed in the Marvel universe in a show unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. The tremendously talented creative team and a nearly super human cast, have created a show that brings Marvel to life. The show creates an experience that immerses families in non-stop action, creating movie-style thrills and jaw dropping stunts that showcase the powers of your favourite Super Heroes right before your very eyes. I’m not sure who was more excited about gong to see Marvel Universe Live, myself or my son? The jury is out on that one! From the get go, an action-packed storyline began with more thrills and drama than you could shoot a web at. Set changes were seamless and the Utlilta Arena was perfect for the fast paced production with a massive screen beaming dramatic changing landscapes behind the huge stage. It was almost like being inside a real-life comic book as impressive acrobatics, fire flinging and Stan Lee-inspired wise cracks unravelled in true good vs evil style. Shout out to Black Widow, The Wasp and Gamorawho were kicking butt for the girls.  I challenge even the most reluctant of parents not to feel their adrenaline pumping as explosions, lights, and aerial acrobatics fill the arena. As a fan of the films, I’m blown away by the detail, purpose and power, thoughtfully jam-packed into every action. This is Marvel at its best. The next 90 minutes passes in a fantastic blur of action and overwhelmingly impressive stunts. From Captain America and Black Widow’s motorbike stunts to Spidey’sweb-slinging aerial assaults, it’s high octane stuff all the way. Throughout the performance I couldn’t help but keep watching my child too, I think his mouth was open for the duration, he was in complete awe of the performance that was happening in front of his eyes. I mean, I was blown away, but imagine being 6 and seeing this?! With a Marvellous mix of mystic energy and the Earth’s mightiest superheroes the Feld Entertainment production is certainly not to be missed. If you’re looking for a night of jaw dropping stunts, dancing, acrobatics, power, motorbike revs, lights and sound – this is the show for you. Doors to the Utilita Arena opened one hour before the performance was due to begin, with strict security checks before you even reach the front door so make sure you check the Utilita Arena’s website on what you can and can’t bring in with you. There is plenty of parking around the arena, not forgetting to mention Newcastle Central Station being a short walk with rail and bus links. One thing I will mention is the cost of merchandise when you arrive at Marvel Universe Live. Understandably, you expect to pay more for food, drinks and merch at these events however I was quite shocked at how expensive it was. For example; £22 for a light up plastic sword?! I love my child but I thought this was day light robbery. You can’t get away from the merchandise areas too as there seemed to be so many of them repeated around the foyer and I felt the staff where quite forceful too. This did put me off but once inside the arena the show made up for the quite abrupt sales pitches happening in the main entrance. This is just a heads up anyway so all parents who read this are ready and prepared. Marvel Universe Live is currently touring the UK and will be performing at the Utilita Arena, Newcastle from Thursday 21st November until Sunday 24th November. Tickets are still available so be quick! Thanks for reading our Marvel Universe Live review,
