Are you a cake lover? Does a cheesecake make you salivate at the thought? Just for desserts or anytime, i mean who needs an excuse really? Thi week we caught up with Simply Cheescake. A wonderful local business in Low Fell, which has been going since 2012!
Who are you?
Who are the people behind the business?
Me, Alyson Archer. I started Simplty Cheesecake while on Maternity leave, my daughter is almost 9 now!
Its been one hell of a rollercoaster to get to where we are today, We started in my house, had a shop on Team Valley for 5 years, had a very hard lesson with a venture in Dean street that didn’t work out, and now probably my best business decision ever to move to our new home in Lowfell. The futures looking bright for simply Cheesecake.
Why did you start the business?
From a love of making cheesecakes, I made them for friends and family, for Sunday lunch, and one day was asked to attend a small fair a friends mam had organised.
I realised quickly there was a huge gap in the market, everyone was selling cupcakes, but no one was doing cheesecake, well there wasn’t back then haha.
How and when did it start?
In 2012 while on maternity I was baking a lot more, Early 2013 I registered as a business and never looked back.
Where are you now compared to when it started?
We now have a cheesecake haven in lowfell, with seating and a beautiful outdoor space, we make all our cheesecakes and cheesecake ice cream on site, as well as baking scones, brownies and a few other treats.
What’s product is your personal favourites?
I love most of them. I wouldn’t sell them if I didn’t Im very very proud of our frozen cheesecake ice cream, which we launched a few years back but has really taken off now we have space to sell it all year round.
Do you have any customer favourites?
A Classic New York is always a winner, The no bake white chocolate and Raspberry sells out very quickly too, fortunately my customers love to try all the varieties so nothing lasts very long in the patisserie counter.
When are you open?
At the moment we are 10am-5pm, 7 days a week. We’re constantly monitoring the situation and as schools return, and we can open up the seating areas, these will be extended.
How do people order?
We deliver most weekends at the moment, to NE, SR, DH, DL, TS postcodes. But as the food festivals and markets start back up again this may change. All info is on our socials weekly.

I absolutely LOVE Goodtimes Tacos and Cubanos!!!! Not only are they lovely people but by god their food is amazing!!!
I miss the food festivals so much at the moment. Food IS life!!
