Although 2020 was a troublesome year for everyone in the hospitality industry, the MICHELIN Guide judges still found time to award their special culinary awards to their favourite restaurants.
Although food trends, cooking techniques and dining scenes come and go, for over a century, the MICHELIN Guide has held firm on its founding mission – to foster a culture of travel and eating out – and it’s this promise of helping people that puts the MICHELIN Guide above all other restaurant guides.
On receiving the MICHELIN Outstanding Cookery Plate, Head Chef, Danny Parker said:
“We are beyond proud to have been awarded a MICHELIN a plate, given for outstanding cooking and we will be hanging our plaque in pride of place outside our newly refurbished Fern Dining Room & Bar.
During the pandemic, the owners of Jesmond Dene House decided to refurbish certain areas of the hotel and freshen it up in order to welcome their loyal guests, once lockdown restrictions were lifted and made some cosmetic changes to the restaurant, as well as given it a brand new name; Fern Dining Room & Bar. After what has been the hardest year, the owners and staff alike were delighted to receive the news from the MICHELIN Guide.
Danny concluded:
“We would like to thank you to everyone that has visited or dined with us, we are so excited for the future of Fern Dining Room & Bar, and Jesmond Dene House and look forward to welcoming even more of you, once full lockdown restrictions are lifted.”
