THREE MILE TO WELCOME ITS FIRST CUSTOMERS
A MUCH-loved Tyneside venue is preparing to welcome its first ever customers following a multi-million-pound redevelopment.
Three Mile, at Gosforth, Newcastle, has undergone a £7.5m transformation by owner Malhotra Group plc to create a state-of-the art hotel, bar and restaurant.
And, in a phased re-opening in line with Covid regulations, the venue has announced it will open its outdoor terrace to the public on Monday 12 April.
The terrace – which was extended as part of the refurbishment – is fully furnished with external tvs and heated umbrellas and will offer a drinks-only table service.
The venue is also taking bookings from guests wishing to stay at the site’s newly constructed, luxurious 64-bedroom Great North Hotel, when it opens on 17 May.
Expected to become a sought-after wedding and conference venue, Great North Hotel also boasts an independently accessed function room, private dining facilities and a residents’ lounge.
Also opening on 17 May at Three Mile is a new family friendly restaurant; the Pizza Dough Co.
Taking its influence from American-style pizza restaurants, it has an open plan design so customers can watch pizzas being prepared and cooked in traditional stone ovens, with rotating plates, that can reach temperatures of 400˚C.
In addition, a coffee shop, The Great North Bakery & Coffee Co has been created, which the Gosforth-based Malhotra family hopes will become a much-used community hub for neighbouring families.
Open from 7am-5pm daily, from 17 May, it will offer hot and cold drinks as well as toasties, paninis, cakes and snacks.
Operations director, Atul Malhotra, who has overseen the project, said he was “delighted” that the venue can finally start welcoming customers.
“A vast amount of thought and investment has gone into creating Three Mile and always with the customer and guest in mind,” he said.
“Lockdown has postponed our opening twice now, so we are overjoyed that we can finally unveil the Three Mile – albeit in stages.”
