Years & Years, one of the world’s most current and trailblazing British pop stars, has been confirmed as one of the headliners set to perform at the all-new Rock N Roll Circus this summer in Newcastle.
Heading to The Town Moor to top the bill on the newly announced date of Sunday 12th June, Olly Alexander’s solo project, Years & Years, are a welcome addition to this new revolutionary concept on Tyneside.
Featuring a Big Top, resident aerialists, stilt walkers, fortune tellers and much more, Years & Years are the latest attraction and music heavyweight to join the Rock N Roll Circus.
Now with three hugely successful albums to date, the singer, actor, and cultural vanguard has earned 5 Brit Award nominations, sold-out numerous global tours, surpassed 5 billion global streams, and played triumphant homecoming shows at London’s O2 and Wembley Arena.
Throughout these important transformative years of creative and personal growth, Olly has also become a fearless, once-in-a-generation voice on important discussions around mental health, and issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community – all of which, in its own way, has taken him to Night Call, and the most essential Years & Years album to date.
2021 was a stand-out year for Olly Alexander, which started with the leading role as Ritchie Tozer in the critically acclaimed Russell T Davies TV drama ‘It’s A Sin’. The series has just been nominated for an incredible 11 BAFTAs, including a leading actor nomination for Olly. The show went on to become one of Channel 4’s biggest shows, breaking viewing on demand records and winning the Best New Drama prize at the National Television Awards as well as bringing the fight against HIV/AIDs back into the public conversation like never before. As a result, this led to a spectacular show-stopping performance of Pet Shop Boy’s classic ‘It’s A Sin’ with Elton John at the BRIT Awards 2021 with the single released to benefit the Elton John Aids Foundation.
Years & Years third album ‘Night Call’ reached #1 on the UK Album Chart in January 2022 with latest single “Sweet Talker” becoming Olly Alexander’s 10th UK Top 40 single.
Years & Years push boundaries by challenging notions of identity and sexuality in a way that is new to pop music – and totally Olly Alexander’s own.
Joining Years & Years on the Sunday line-up will see Grammy-nominated R&B star Mahalia, Tyneside native L Devine & BEKA all take to the Rock N Roll Circus stage.
Years and Years will perform at Rock N Roll Circus on Sunday 12th June.
