Alan Robson MBE, the loved radio personality and best-selling author, known for delivering tales of shock, horror and the unexpected from a career that has spanned over 50 years will head to the iconic Hard Rock Cafe Newcastle this April.
On the evening of Tuesday 25 April, the live show will be filled to the brim with incredible behind-the-scenes stories, audience interaction and big prizes up for grabs.
This special show is somewhat of a homecoming for the radio legend. Robson presented his first ever live show at the venue, which was located within the historic walls of the Grade I-listed Guildhall, now home to Hard Rock Cafe Newcastle.
During the beginning of his radio career, Alan specialised in rock music shows including Bridges and Hot ‘n’ Heavy Express, before taking over as the presenter for the hugely popular Night Owls show in 1983. After taking on a variety of changes over almost 4 decades, the adored night-time segment had its final airing on Metro’s sister station, Greatest Hits Radio, in April 2022.
Alan Robson’s shows have always been spontaneous, unique and laugh-out-loud funny. At Hard Rock Cafe Newcastle his brand-new stage show will be no different.
Robson will take his audience on a journey through some of his most incredible untold experiences from his half-century reign as one of Britain’s most successful radio talk show hosts.
Keeping the show on-theme, Alan will come armed with hilarious anecdotes from behind the scenes at the gigs he hosted for the likes of Queen, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner andBryan Adams.
Madcap, fascinating and often moving, Robson’s mind-blowing and sometimes heart-breaking stories are expected to take his audience on an emotional rollercoaster. Expect to go from “fits of giggles to audible weeping”, he said.
Fans of Night Owls will embark on a nostalgic trip down memory lane with special segments that made the show such a roaring success. Night Owls was famous for its call-ins from listeners and Alan’s live show is set to emulate this with a ‘Night Owls Live Segment’
“It will give the audience a chance to have their say again as they did for so many years,” says Alan.
“I’ll also be playing classic clips from across the decades, featuring some of the incredible calls from the public. And you’ll have a chance for your voice to become the next one. This venue holds a special place in my heart. My first best selling book was actually launched in the courtroom when it was called Guildhall. The courtroom was definitely haunted!”
Audiences will also have the chance to enjoy and participate in a live version of Alan’s legendary Bladerunner Super quiz, with big prizes on offer including major concert tickets.
