The Great Market Caper, to be held between 6pm and midnight on the first Saturday of each month, promises to deliver some truly memorable nights. For each Caper the beautiful building, for so long so important to the city’s daytime economy, will be transformed into a unique, atmospheric evening venue with the capacity to host up to 2,000 people.

With each of the Georgian Alleys beautifully lit and decorated, The Caper will combine great street food, excellent bars, live music and DJs, and a wide programme of other novel entertainment.

Inspired by the likes of downtown Boston’s Faneuil Hall and London’s Brixton Market, The Great Market Caper willnonetheless be unmistakably Newcastle and will provide the perfect platform for local talent including the region’s best chefs, musicians, performers, comics, and artists.

The market’s great existing street food offer will be complemented by guest operators including some of Newcastle’s top chefs, and the first Caper will also feature Salsa maestro Chris Pendleton providing free lessons to allcomers, comedians from Whitley Bay’s celebrated Felt Nowt, and a line up of live music and DJs to be announced shortly.

Tickets are £10, with 50 pairs for each event being reserved for those who, like refugees, might not otherwise be able to attend but who can be sure to receive that famous Geordie welcome at every Caper.

Sean Bullick, Director of organisers, Let’s Stick Together Events said “At the Great Market Caper, you could only be in Newcastle. Not only is each Caper going to be a fantastic night out right in the heart of the city, but they will also showcase all the extraordinary depth of local talent which exists in the region.”

Top chef and partner in the highly-rated, Chillingham RoadBao Bar, Richard Wheatley said, “I’m really excited about being asked to be part of The Great Market Caper. I think the concept is sound and I hope it becomes a really established part of Newcastle’s offer. I will be providing two very different culinary options on September 3rd: to find out what they are, you will have to come along on the night!”
