MULLED wine, giant nutcracker soldiers and cocktails themed around iconic Christmas films will mark the official launch of Newcastleโs newest bar next week (12 Nov).
Christmas at Grey Street โ the former Leilaโs Lilyโs โ will re-open on Thursday 12 November for the festive period only.

Pictured is bar tender Jonathan Buxton, helping put up the Christmas decorations.
And the launch night has been timed to coincide with the cityโs Christmas lights switch on, making the opulent, glamorous venue the ideal place to kick start Christmas celebrations.
From 4pm to 8pm guests will be greeted by two stilt-walking nutcracker soldiers and led under a festive archway to be offered a free glass of mulled wine.
Inside, the green and gold themed venue comprises two drinks-focussed experiences; the main bar and a Christmas movie room which will show a selection of sound off, subtitled movies, with a complimentary mini bag of popcorn for each movie room customer.
But the cocktails are undoubtedly the stars of the show, with each one inspired by a beloved Christmas film, a festive favourite dessert, or a seasonal twist on a classic.
They include To Me, You Are Perfect – a vodka-based strawberry martini inspired by Love Actually and The Filthy Marg; a Home Alone-inspired twist on a classic tequila-based Margarita.
All Christmas-inspired cocktails are available for ยฃ9, with a festive happy hour running from 5pm to 7pm offering any two cocktails for just ยฃ15. Guests can also enjoy a classic cocktail menu, priced at ยฃ8 each or two for ยฃ14 during happy hour.
Along with the cocktails there will be a self-service Guinness machine and a selection of Hawkstone products, made famous on tvโs Clarksonโs Farm, including its vodka, gin, cider and beer range.
The venue is owned by leading North East hospitality operator Malhotra Group plc and ยฃ1 from every hot chocolate and Aperol Spritz sold will be donated to the venueโs nominated charity for 2026, Childrenโs Cancer North.
There will be live music on Friday 13 November of the opening weekend, with a mix of live music and DJ sets throughout December before the venue closes for the last time at 6pm on Christmas Eve.
Christmas at Grey Street will only be open from Thursday to Sunday throughout November and seven days a week in December, from noon. Guests are welcome on a walk-in basis only, as the venue will not be taking reservations.
