TAN HILL INN BRINGS TRADITIONAL FAYRE TO ST. JAMES’ STACK

AN ICONIC English pub has brought the best of British food to a North East entertainment hub.

The Tan Hill Inn, the UK’s highest watering hole, has just opened at St. James’ STACK, bringing some of the best loved dishes people travel to the remote pub to enjoy.

And now visitors to the popular Newcastle leisure outlet can enjoy everything from different takes on Yorkshire Puddings, traditional pies and the most popular of all British food – fish and chips.

The pub’s Yorkshire pudding wraps offer diners a choice of slow roast beef or pork, lemon and herb chicken or a veggie nut roast, with buttered mash, honey roasted carrots and seasonal greens wrapped in a giant pudding, served with gravy.

The same fillings are also available as stuffed Yorkshire puddings, which are proving a huge hit, with Yorkshire Pudding lovers even able to get one as a signature dessert, which comes stuffed with warm, spiced apples and ice cream.

The Tan Hill Inn is renowned for its pies and they are now available at STACK, with a choice of steak and ale, chicken and ham or Saag Aloo – a blend of spinach, potatoes and Indian spices.

All pies are served with creamy mash or chips with a side of rich gravy.

Along with fish and chips,diners can enjoy a range of side dishes including pigs in blankets, chunky chips and pork scratchings salt pots.

A special children’s menu has also been created which feature favourites such as chicken nuggets and a chicken burger.

Andrew Hields, owner of the original Tan Hill Inn in Swaledale and the outlet at STACK, is delighted with the response.

“We have visitors who come to the Tan Hill Inn from around the world because it’s such an iconic place,” he said.

“And along with its long history, it is also renowned for its fantastic, hearty food and that’s exactly what we’re now recreating at St.James’ STACK.”
