The Geordie DJ and artist returns to NX on Black Eye Friday alongside MDDLTN, Nanna Makina, Symmetrik and special guest Junkie Kid for a seven-hour festive takeover

Newcastle’s very own Schak is heading home for Christmas, bringing his annual festive rave back to NX on Friday 18 December with a huge line-up celebrating the sounds of the North East’s thriving dance music scene.
Returning on Black Eye Friday, one of the biggest nights of the festive party season, the Geordie DJ and producer will be joined by MDDLTN, Nanna Makina, Symmetrik and special guest Junkie Kid for a seven-hour takeover running from 9pm until 4am.
The announcement comes at a landmark moment for Schak, whose latest single, Impacto (Makina), a collaboration with Dutch electronic duo W&W and DJ Skryker, has already racked up more than 250,000 streams since its release last week.
Released through W&W’s Rave Culture imprint, the track is introducing the unmistakable sound of Makina to an international audience, marking another major step in Schak’s mission to take the music he grew up with in the North East to dancefloors around the world.
Schak said:“I’m really excited for this show because it feels like we’re entering a completely new chapter. Seeing Makina getting the attention, press and recognition it’s receiving right now has got me buzzing.
“When I was growing up listening to this music, there was a real stigma attached to it. People were put down and judged simply for loving Makina. To see that changing and to watch this music finally being celebrated and reaching a whole new generation feels incredibly special.
“I genuinely believe we’re living through one of the most exciting times Makina has ever had, and it feels like we’re only at the beginning. There are amazing things ahead, and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate this moment than coming home to Newcastle at Christmas and putting on a huge show at NX.
“It’s going to be a special one.”
Schak first broke through nationally with Moving All Around (Jumpin’), the Patrick Topping-supported anthem that earned a nomination for BBC Radio 1’s Dance Track of the Year.
Since then, he has taken his sound across the UK, Ibiza, Europe and the US, appearing at major clubs and festivals including Ushuaïa, Hï Ibiza, elrow and Creamfields.
His music has continued to evolve, drawing increasingly on the rave, trance, happy hardcore and Makina sounds that shaped his early years, while his ThirtyThree record label and events platform is providing a home for the next generation of high-energy rave music.
HUGE LINE-UP CONFIRMED FOR SCHAK’S CHRISTMAS HOMECOMING
Joining Schak is rising UK DJ and producer MDDLTN, whose fusion of hard dance, techno, trance and hard house has earned support from Armin van Buuren and Hannah Laing, alongside appearances at major international dance events.
Belfast duo Symmetrik also join the bill, bringing their high-energy blend of trance and hard dance to NX following performances for major club brands and a growing international following.
There will also be a welcome return for local legend Nanna Makina, bringing her the unmistakable Makina sounds and Christmas chaos to the heart of Newcastle.
Completing the line-up is special guest Junkie Kid. Hailing from Mexico, the internationally recognised DJ and producer has built a reputation for his uncompromising fusion of hardstyle, hard house and techno, with appearances at major festivals including Ultra Music Festival and EDC.
The show forms part of NX Loves, the venue’s curated club series, which continues to bring leading international DJs, established artists and emerging talent to the heart of Newcastle’s nightlife.
NX Loves Presents: Schak takes place at NX Newcastle on Friday 18 December 2026, from 9pm until 4am.
