A Class Feeling – This is Makina
Following on from the success of last Autumn’s This is Makina! The Customs House are reimagining this at a ramped-up level for a piece of exhilarating gig theatre featuring live DJ with the NE’s favourite, DJ ADS, and local lads on the mic in MC Flecky and MC Tolman.
Written by Christina Berriman Dawson, A Class Feeling is set in the heart of South Shields and follows local lad and wannabe MC Justin as he navigates his grief and friendships, set against the backdrop of the raw energy of Makina. Justin’s looking for answers; Makina is the key!
Passed down through four generations, Makina tells stories that are political, filled with heartache, acceptance and love.
The piece will be directed by Pav Christodoulou and include original tracks from DJ A.D.S and MC Drop Dead Fred.
The show will feature local MCs throughout, utilising our new retractable seating giving a fresh dynamic to the space.
As part of The Customs House’s First Play Club and from the creative team who brought you This is Makina! last year’s breakout hit, we’re back with A Class Feeling. Showing in our main auditorium 18 – 21 September 2024.
