Dylan John Thomas Drops Sophomore Album ‘Nothing Here Worth Taking’ Via Believe Music Ahead of Tour Calling at NX Newcastle.

Today, Dylan John Thomas releases his glorious and hugely anticipated sophomore album Nothing Here Worth Taking, via Believe Music, marking the next chapter in the rise of one of Scotland’s most exciting young talents. Earlier this week, Dylan also shared the album’s huge title track, getting fans hyped for tonight’s special album launch show at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom.

Nothing Here Worth Taking is a record built around his instinct for huge melodies, heartfelt storytelling and songs that are made to be played loud. Recorded at Magic Box Studios with Scotty Anderson, the album sees Dylan push his sound far beyond the guitar-led foundations of his 2024 self-titled debut.

Across ten tracks, Dylan brings together brass, blues, banjo, piano, folk, country and 90s dance influences, creating an album that feels rooted in classic songwriting while constantly moving somewhere unexpected.

Title track ‘Nothing Here Worth Taking’ is Dylan at full force. Acoustic guitar, thrilling blasts of brass that call back to his love of ska as a kid, and a soaring vocal build into a properly massive track that feels stadium-ready yet still has plenty of weight underneath. The track is a song of encouragement and support for a mate whose relationship was breaking down.

It also provides a fitting introduction to the wider sound of Nothing Here Worth Taking. So far Dylan has revealed several distinct sides of the record, beginning with ‘Got You On My Mind’, a sunlit, banjo-led anthem inspired by Dylan’s discovery of the instrument during a trip around Scotland. The track marked a new direction in his songwriting, bringing banjo and brass together with the melodic, roots-driven sound that has become central to the new record.

Elsewhere, ‘Heaven Knows You’re Lonely’ strips everything back to Dylan’s unmistakable voice and acoustic guitar, while ‘Come and Get It’ introduces 90s dance influences and intricate fingerpicked guitar into his sound.

The result is a record that reflects Dylan’s wide-ranging musical influences without ever losing sight of the songwriter at its centre. His introduction to music came through Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring of Fire’, which he discovered through the Tony Hawk video games, leading him towards The Beatles, Paul Simon and Leonard Cohen. His fascination with guitar fingerpicking has since drawn him towards artists including Lindsey Buckingham, Paul Simon and Mark Knopfler, all of which can be felt across the album.

And today, Dylan is bringing the album home. Tonight, Dylan returns to Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom for a special full-band album launch show, returning to the venue where he has previously sold out six nights as his extraordinary rise from grassroots songwriter to major Scottish live act continues.

With over 40 million streams and 60,000 tickets sold, Dylan has built a huge following from the ground up. Six sold-out nights at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom culminated in a 14,500-capacity homecoming show at OVO Hydro, while festival appearances at TRNSMT, Kendal Calling, Victorious, and Leeds Festival have helped his audience grow significantly. Along the way, he has shared stages with Sam Fender and Liam Gallagher, while fellow Glaswegian Gerry Cinnamon has also played an important mentor role in his journey.

Momentum around the album has continued to build, with Dylan’s Assai Glasgow, Assai Edinburgh, Assai Dundee and Jacaranda Liverpool in-store events this week selling out within 24 hours. In the last month, he has reached 312K Spotify listeners and 1.4 million streams.

Following the release of Nothing Here Worth Taking, Dylan will embark on his biggest UK & Ireland headline tour to date across November and December, including NX, Newcastle on December 4, 2026.
