Review: Big Dick Whittington & His Pussy at the Exchange 1856
Get ready to be offended, laugh out loud and entertained by Big Dick Whittington & His Pussy for a limited run at The Exchange 1856 courtesy of NE Adult Panto.
Its seems like there is a panto all year around nowadays for the kids, but now we also have one where we can leave them at home and let loose as North East Adult Panto brought a fantastic cast to the stage to take panto to the Over 18’s! Scriptwriters and Directors must love this opportunity, as we get mild risqué humour in the day to day pantos, but here they are allowed to go full throttle and let loose. If you’re prudish then this probably isn’t for you!
Dick Whittington (my actually namesake) had a title made for adult panto and with a few corrections easily becomes full of innuendo. Expect Dildos, Condoms, Sexually charged Innuendo and utter filth as Big Dick Whittington journeys from London to find his fortune with his glamorous pussy!
With cleverly worked variations on your favourite pop songs like you’ve never heard them before including hits from Whitney Houston, Steps, Kylie as well as reworked musical songs from Wicked and Hairspray.
The big draw was Katie Price who was appearing as Queen Rat, and while many I knew offered an opinion, this was a very enjoyable performance by her. Price gave us a typical baddie villain appearance with her delivery of lines and even some solo singing which may just surprise you. A moment where lines where forgotten gave herself an opportunity to make fun of herself, and where else but in a panto is it allowed to go off script. Acting may not be a natural route for Katie but this was a good effort and perfect for what the show was.
Mark Lamb showed us his Big Dick Whittington portrayal and was loud and crude in equal measure. This big dick was enjoyable. Deborah Taylor-Smith as Alice Fitznicely was a perfect love companion for our main character and just as dirty minded as eachother.
No journey from London to Newcastle for Dick Whittington can be made without his pussy, and with a meow meow Michael Maruoli was as sparkling as her costume was as PussyTwat. I think it’s fair to say she shone in this production brightest!
Jonny Larman, was as perverted as his name suggested as Peter the Pervert. With the broadest of Geordie accents he delivered his scenes hilariously making you cringe in laughter.
With more drag Queens involved, every panto has to have its fairy and dames and these were excellently played by Ophelia Balls as Fairy Bowbells and Janice Dickinyourson was Dame Fanny Fitznicely.
If you fancy a night out of adult humour that won’t get cancelled, pop along while tickets are available and allow yourself to take Big Dick Whittington & His Pussy into your life.
The show is proud to be supported by its main sponsors, Blueline Taxis and Week 2 Week Serviced Apartments, whose generous contributions have helped make this production possible.
