THE ROBOT THAT WAS REFUSED ENTRY TO THE MAGIC CIRCLE IS COMING TO SOUTH SHIELDS

International headlines, artificial intelligence and the future of magic.

This Saturday evening, 17 October, The Customs House in South Shields will host a spectacular
evening of international magic as part of the South Tyneside International Magic Festival.
Topping the bill this year is award-winning magician David Penn, The Tech Magician, alongside his extraordinary sidekick D4RYL™ – the world’s only humanoid magic robot.

But this is no ordinary magic act.

Earlier this year, David and D4RYL made headlines around the world when the robot was refused entry to the prestigious Magic Circle after applying to become a member. The extraordinary story captured international attention, featuring in The Times, The New York
Times and media outlets across the globe.

The controversy raised a fascinating question: Could artificial intelligence and humanoid robots
eventually replace human magicians? David Penn, a former British Magic Champion and member of The Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star, has spent the past eight years pioneering a completely new style of entertainment, incorporating mobile phones and cutting-edge technology into every routine.

Now, with D4RYL at his side, he is taking that innovation even further.
David says: “Technology will never replace wonder – it just amplifies it.
