Tickets for Richard E Grant and Blackfriars meal up for grabs in the Tyne Theatre and Opera House’s latest prize draw

The Tyne Theatre and Opera House are delighted to announce another crowdfunding prize draw, with the chance to win two tickets for ‘An Evening with Richard E Grant’, celebrating the release of his new book, A Pocketful of Happiness on Thursday 25th May 2023. The lucky winner will also receive a pre-show two course meal and fizz for two at the wonderful Blackfriars restaurant, just a stone’s throw away from the theatre.
The Tyne Theatre and Opera House Trust operates as a charity and relies on generous support and donations from its community to maintain the beautiful, Grade 1 listed building.
The lucky prize draw winner will join Richard for an evening of stories from his life, entwining tales from his extraordinary time in showbiz with uplifting reflections on love and loss, to celebrate the publication of his new book, A Pocketful of Happiness.
Live on stage, Richard will consider the inspiration behind the book – how, when his beloved wife Joan died in 2021 after almost forty years together, she set him a challenge: to find a pocketful of happiness in every day. He found the instruction to be profoundly powerful, and this new book, drawing on both contemporary stories and recollections of his remarkable life and glittering career, is Richard’s way of honouring that challenge.
With its origins dating back to 1239, Blackfriars confidently lays claim to being the oldest dining room in the UK. Blackfriars have won many awards including Taste of the North East, and is now one of the most recognised and reputable restaurants in Newcastle. Blackfriars serve a gutsy traditional-British menu using local seasonal ingredients, often straight from the local farms and markets.
