Agatha Christie’s murder mystery play ‘A Murder Is Announced’ and her amateur sleuth Miss Marple are coming to the stage in Chester-le-Street this September with Dryburn Theatrical Workshop.

An announcement in the local paper states the time and place when a murder is to occur in Miss Blacklock’s Victorian house. The victim is not one of the house’s occupants, but an unexpected and unknown visitor. What follows is a classic Christie puzzle of mixed motives, concealed identities, a second death and a determined inspector grimly following the case’s twists and turns. Fortunately, Miss Marple is on hand to provide the solution – at some risk to herself – in a dramatic final confrontation.

Lee Passmoor, Chairman of Dryburn Theatrical Workshop, said, “We’re delighted to be able to perform ‘A Murder Is Announced’, based on Agatha Christie’s classic novel, a fun whodunit with an ingenious plot, suspense and mixture of fascinating characters, offering a great evening’s entertainment.”

Performances run from Thursday 10th to Saturday 12th September, starting at 7.15pm at the Park View Theatre in Chester-le-Street, DH3 3QA. All tickets are priced £12, with reductions available on block bookings.
