ESTEEMED NORTH EAST COMEDIAN CARL HUTCHINSON UNPACKS THE REALITIES OF STAND-UP WITH WORLD PREMIERE OF NEW DOCUMENTARY AT TYNESIDE CINEMA

Jarrow-born, now nationally adored, comedian Carl Hutchinson lends his signature brand of unpredictable and energetic comedy to the big screen in That’s The Show – and you can see it first at Tyneside Cinema.

In typically spontaneous fashion, Carl asked a film crew from MOTIF Pictures to follow him on his biggest-ever tour last year, resulting in a hilarious collage of on-stage and behind-the-scenes clips of the performer in his element.

On the 11th of May, Tyneside Cinema presents the World Premiere of the documentary, with a guest appearance and Q&A from Carl himself to discuss his craft.

Carl expressed his excitement for the event, saying that “the fact that we get to open the documentary at the Tyneside is really cool. I was just there the other week watching Peppa Pig with my daughter. About 10 years ago I actually performed there too, back when I was just starting out. Fast forward 10 years
I’ve got about 6 tours under my belt and a very cool documentary to show for it. I really can’t wait to show the people of Newcastle how talented MOTIF are, they’ve really made something out of absolutely nothing”.

A touring comedian who plays to sell-out crowds all over the country including smash-hit homecoming gigs at Newcastle’s iconic Tyne Theatre, That’s The Show promises a raw and honest look at life on the road with Carl Hutchinson.

The film’s director Tautvydas Baranauskas wanted to make sure that we see the “rawness of the experience that Carl goes through off stage as well as the ups and downs that have brought him to this point in his career. The result is a film that we’re all really proud of that isn’t just a guy walking on stage and making people laugh but explores different areas of what it is to do what he does for a job.”

Also starring alongside Carl in the documentary are fellow comedians and local legends such as Anth Young and Chris Ramsey.

You can attend the World Premiere event on the 11th of May at Tyneside Cinema.
