HWKRLAND Brings an Epic Adventure of Food, Drink and Entertainment Under the Tyne Bridge this Easter Weekend!

Embark on an exciting journey this Easter weekend as HWKRLAND, the region’s newest container bar and food market, emerges to reclaim the vibrant spirit of great drinks, local food and entertainment under the iconic Tyne Bridge, Gateshead Quays.

Returning with a fresh identity, renewed energy and now known as HWKRLAND, this Easter weekend will mark the grand reopening of this beloved destination, promising an unforgettable experience for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Prepare to be wowed by the mouth-watering food and drink offerings at HWKRLAND, where guests are invited to dive into a world of flavour and fun with the new line-up of vendors. With a mix of fresh faces and old favourites, each vendor is coming together to bring visitors the very best of the North East’s food and drink, creating an unforgettable space and addition to the region’s hospitality scene.

Forty Thieves Micro Pub & Bottle Shop: Inspired by the gangs of New York, visitors can indulge in a staggering selection of 14 draught products, including stouts, IPAs, and the refreshing Cactus Schofferhofer Radler. There will also be 40 specialist independent and local cans or bottles available to drink on-site or take away!

Pepo Cocktail Bar: Making a triumphant return to the North East, Pepo will be the cocktail bar at HWKRLAND, bringing an array of fruit-focused cocktails, modern classics, and frozen cocktails, perfect for day drinks. Guests can savour the popular tequila-based classic the Margarita, Newcastle’s stapler, the Zombie and also the perfect Pornstar Martini.

New Foodie Destinations: Get ready to delight your taste buds with a selection of new local foodie havens, from Gateshead’s new pizza outlet, Circo, to Sandyford’s Smoke & Sear, which showcases its luscious Steak Frites and fresh seafood. And for those with a sweet tooth, Churro specialists Doughvine Desserts will be serving their famous sweet treats.

Beloved Street Food Traders: HWKRLAND will also welcome back familiar favourites Acropolis, ParmoRama, Dabbawal, and Meatstack to the site. Each will bring their expertise and mouth-watering creations to the Gateshead’s Quays once again.

Jonny Hesketh from ParmoRama told us; “We are so excited to be returning to HWKRLAND! This market helped us establish our name and educate the Geordies on a Proper Parmo! It’s a great place where there is a real community feel amongst the traders and some amazing food on offer too!”

Federico from Dabbawal expresses his excitement, saying, “Dabbawal is super excited to be back serving up the freshest Indian street food in town, doing what we do best. We can’t wait to start this new chapter at HWKRLAND!”

Charlie from Meat Stack also expressed his joy at the venue’s return: “We are thrilled to be invited back to HWKRLAND Street food market. We’ve always loved the space, the views and the excellent folk it attracts. We are truly excited to work alongside colleagues old and new for a Summer of great food, drinks and alfresco entertainment.”

Charlie continued; “We were gutted when HWKRMRKT had to close, as we felt it was the best space in the toon. Having worked with the new operators on other projects like Times Square, we know they will give HWKRLAND their all and add to what is already a great venue.”

Mike Hesketh, co-owner of EVNT Inspirations, the team behind the new HWKRLAND concept, says, “I am insanely excited to bring the Quayside to life even more than it already is. I spend most Sundays with my family and dogs at the Quayside market, or having a beer at ByTheRiverBrewCo, so it’s awesome to be able to add our very own variety of great local food, drinks and entertainment into the social mix this Spring and Summer.”

HWKRLAND will be bringing an abundance of entertainment, including artisan markets, pub quizzes, screenings of major events on a huge LED screen, and live music performances, ensuring there’s never a dull moment at this bustling hotspot.

HWKRLAND officially opens its doors this Good Friday [Friday 29th March] from 5pm and will welcome guests every weekend throughout the Spring and Summer, promising unforgettable adventures for all.

HWKRLAND is a family and dog-friendly venue and will be welcoming guests of all ages.
