A WORLD famous pub is spreading its wings for the first time – and bringing its food offering to Newcastle’s St. James’ STACK.
The Tan Hill Inn boasts the accolade of being the highest pub in the United Kingdom and is situated 1732 ft above sea level at Swaledale.
And now for the first time in its 300 years plus history, the inn is sharing the Tan Hill experience with a wider audience, with plans to turn its popular pub grub into a street food offering.
Over the years the Tan Hill has been used in everything from major movies to tv shows to adverts and is a popular venue for lovers of the great outdoors and those who want a traditional British pub experience.
Owner, Andrew Hields, said the move to St. James’ STACK is an exciting prospect for the iconic pub and one which helps secure its future survival.
“Owning a pub with as much history and as well known as the Tan Hill Inn comes with a level of responsibility,” he said.
“And that includes ensuring that it is able to survive in an ever-challenging hospitality climate, particularly given the increasing overheads on site
“Expanding the Tan Hill Inn experience beyond its Yorkshire location helps us ensure its survival and we are very grateful to STACK for the opportunity to be part of their exciting concept.”
On the menu at the new outlet – which has just opened its doors – will be a whole host of pub favourites, including Tan Hill’s signature Yorkshire pudding wraps, traditional pies and the pub’s famed fish and chips.
Gemma Dishman, Director of Strategy and Development for STACK, said the arrival of Tan Hill would be a welcome addition.
