Lee Kyle at Tyne Theatre
Lee Kyle – England’s Best Comedian
Tyne Theatre and Opera House – 20th April – 8pm
Following fifteen years in stand up, gigging all over the UK and elsewhere, South Shields comedian Lee Kyle is playing his first ever show at The Tyne Theatre. It’s called England’s Best Comedian and is a follow up to last years hit Disco Twix which you can see in full on Youtube!
Lee is the best comedian that hardly anyone has heard of, with a cult following that really should be bigger OR he isn’t and he shouldn’t. He has a knack for killer routines and a singular style of delivery that wins over audiences everywhere.
His show is about overcoming self doubt and admitting to himself, and you to yourself, that he is, indeed, England’s best comedian. Even if almost all of his psyche tells him otherwise. Why do we always listen to that bit?
Look, this is Lee writing this, let’s not bother with the pretence. The stuff I’m just about to type IS the real me, it’s just a tiny bit, the bit that is usually drowned out by the other real me, who hates me. I’m also super grateful to the Tyne Theatre for taking a chance on me, I’m genuinely very chuffed and excited.
Here goes!
Get this bucko, I’m England’s Best Comedian (Don’t claim to be Britain’s Best Comedian because I haven’t seen everyone in Wales and Scotland yet (Let alone Northern Ireland – thorny issue) so don’t want to seem arrogant) so can you please tell everyone?
How do I know I’m the best? Well, I’ve been at all my gigs and, my word, the laughs hurt my ears sometimes. It may just be that I have sensitive ears. Also, humility has got me nowhere so bollocks to it, I’m great me.
Are you better than Al Murray Lee? Yes.
What about Tommy Trinder? Yes.
What about Hannah Gadsby? She’s Australian but yes.
What about… YES, IT’S ALWAYS YES.
I can do it all mate, I’m versatile. Stag dos, kids shows, thoughtful self referential hours, compering, nice gigs, crap gigs, unplayable rooms, clever jokes, stupid jokes, stories, surreal stuff. I’m a Swiss Army Knife.
Please do come though, I’m actually wracked with self doubt and subtle sexual allure.
