Local Café Undergoes Lockdown Refurbishment Transforming into a Modern Bistro

No.4 Bistro, formerly No.4, has undergone a huge refurbishment throughout the months of lockdown.

The former café, located in East Boldon, South Tyneside, has been transformed into a modern, bistro, with a new look and menu.

Extensive work has been carried out to make the venue much more spacious and ergonomic, with a fresh airy, yet homely feel to it.  Modern nick knacks adorn the walls and it now boast an open-pass to the kitchen.

As a result of customer feedback on the previous venue, the bistro now hosts a sun-trap courtyard, an open-plan interior, more toilets and all-new furnishings, fixtures and fittings.

With the re-brand, the bistro, although has always had an alcohol licence, it will now have more appeal to the masses who want to just have a few snacks and a drink, as well as a full lunch and dinner menu.

There will still be a chance for the locals to indulge in their famous scones, sandwiches and cakes that No.4 has to offer and something that featured very highly on their customer feedback.

Out of the research came the fact that many of their diners would like to see more regular Supper Club evenings, where customers can enjoy evening dining with a local chef, which will be taking place on the first Saturday of every month.

In relation to the ongoing pandemic, No.4 Bistro has also incorporated QR code menus in to their new way of working. This is to correspond with the Government’s Track and Trace system and to create a more hygienic way of ordering.

Seats will be socially distanced, extra hygiene policies in place and staff re-trained, to keep customers and employees safe during the pandemic.

Owners of No.4 Bistro, Danielle and Sean McCann hope to increase jobs in the area, with their extended opening hours of Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10am – 4pm.

Danielle added;

“We’re extremely excited to re-open No.4 Bistro.  We’ve managed to make the changes to the venue and although it is bigger, it is still very welcoming and homely.  Although it has taken months of planning, the results are really worth it. We look forward to welcoming our regular clientele and many more newcomers to the venue.”

No.4 Bistro plans to reopen on Thursday 3rd September, with a VIP launch evening in the works for their regular customers and press, in November.

Danielle concluded:

“We hope that our customers enjoy the changes and appreciate that the feedback came from them, proving that we listen to our customers and react accordingly.”
