Round The Houses, a new play from Si Beckwith and Gavin Webster, comes to Laurel’s Theatre

Dean’s helping his Nana move out. It’s an enforced move and the bailiff’s making sure she’s ready to go. But it wasn’t always this way for his Nana, she used to be a Provy woman. She used to be the one collecting the debts in, through snide and sly digs. Now she’s here.

Come join us at Laurels Theatre for Si Beckwith and Gavin Webster’s brand new play. With sharp wit and relatable characters, ‘Round the Houses’ invites viewers to reflect on the societal implications of debt while finding humor in the absurdities of life. The play promises to engage audiences with its blend of comedy and drama, showcasing the resilience of the human spirit in the face of overwhelming challenges.

Round The Houses is the debut play from stand-up comedians Gavin Webster and Si Beckwith. The play is rooted in a passion for telling authentic working class stories, which is an ethos shared by Laurel’s Theatre. Both Gavin and Si were previous recipients of Arts Council England’s Developing Your Creative Practice funding to develop and transition their writing from stand-up to theatre and were mentored by some of the most talented people in North East Theatre.

Both are excited to bring this new show to Whitley Bay.
