Social Bird Restaurant Announces April Opening Date and Menu With A Feathered Twist

Social Bird, the eagerly anticipated restaurant, is set to spread its wings and take flight in the heart of Newcastle’s Fenkle Street on April 5th 2024. The vibrant restaurant promises to deliver a dining experience unlike any other, combining a laid-back atmosphere with an innovative and delicious menu that celebrates local flavours, community spirit and a chicken charm.

Headed by Ben Watson, Head Chef at Social Bird and a proud North East local, Social Bird is thrilled to unveil its diverse menu, carefully crafted to delight every taste. Ben shares his excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled to be a part of the Social Bird team and bring a fresh and exciting dining concept to Newcastle. We have worked closely with local suppliers to create a menu that highlights the best of our region’s ingredients and flavours. The involvement of the local community has played a big part in the development of Social Bird, and we can’t wait to share our passion for great food and hospitality with our guests.”

The menu at Social Bird features an array of appetising starters, mains, sides, and deserts with highlights including their signature Chicken Schnitzel, Chicken and Waffles, and a Slow-roasted bird, available in whole, half or quarter portions.

Social Bird restaurant has also created an irresistible burger menu that is guaranteed to make mouths water and tummies rumble.


Dirty Bird – Mac ’n’ cheese, fried chicken fillet, crispy onions, lettuce: £17.50.

Spicy Bird – Franks Red Hot Buffalo sauce, fried chicken fillet, house slaw, a zingy blue cheese sauce: £16.
Classic Bird – Simply stand-out fried chicken fillet, lettuce, pickles, cheese, mayo £16
Veggie Bird – (V) Crispy Quorn fillet, lettuce, pickles, cheese, mayo: £15

Vegan Bird – (VE) Crispy Quorn fillet, lettuce, house slaw, pickles, plant-based mayo: £15

Naked Bird – Simply grilled chicken fillet, lettuce, cheese, mayo. Choose from no bun or gluten-free bun: £14.50

Embracing the restaurant’s ethos of sustainability and quality, all poultry is sourced locally from Soanes Poultry, renowned for its commitment to high welfare standards and sustainability. Other local businesses that supply the restaurant are Tynemouth Coffee Company, Newcastle Gin, Pure Knead and Hadrian’s Border Brewery, Jeans Jams, and Northumberland Cheese Company.

Social Bird Mac ‘n’ Cheese: Rich ‘n’ cheesy – herby breadcrumbs, crispy onions: £8.50

Sticky Bang Bang Cauliflower: Hot and sweet cauli’ – chilli, sesame seeds, maple syrup: £8

Shakshuka: Saucy one-pan number – fried hen’s egg, crumbled feta, coriander, sourdough for dunkin’: £8

Chicken Bone Broth: Good for the soul – sourdough, chicken skin butter: £6.50

Social Bird will also offer a diverse breakfast menu catered for sit-in and to-go customers featuring dishes such as Full English, Oat Milk Pancakes and a Smoothie Bowl. For lunch, guests can indulge in their deli counter, serving a rotating selection of freshly made sandwiches, wraps, and pastries.

The restaurant’s bespoke bar, featuring an arched detailing inspired by the iconic Tyne Bridge, will serve a meticulously crafted drinks menu boasting premium and house cocktails and mocktails, an exquisite selection of local beers, wines, spirits, and a variety of soft and hot beverages.
