Spotlight: Frate Newcastle

Spotlight: Frate Newcastle

On Friday 26th May Frate opened to the public and what a scorching weekend to do so, as it was sunshine all bank holiday weekend.

We had been invited to a preview night the day before to check it out and you may already have seen our spotlight post on Instagram. If not check it out here.

Frate, which you may have seen across any or all of the media coverage it had, is a new container bar. I say container and you may think Stack Newcastle, and yes we have all missed this central location for which provided independent food, drink and a great social space to meet and connect with your friends

Frate doesn’t imitate Stack, it is it’s own place. Whilst not as big, it provides a fabulous intimate outdoor space to socialise in, and when the sun beams this venue is in its element.

With a good selection of beers on tap, spirits, wines and champagne to offer you’ll find something you like. Of course they have cocktails and what I really like is that they have their own dedicated cocktail bar.

Food is on offer from two local independents, the first being Babs Newcastle who are providing tasty shawarma wraps fusing global influences with amazing ingredients. They are a a middle eastern Inspired Kebab / Mezze Street Food Joint… Channelling the best in sustainable produce over Open Flames.

If this doesn’t get your taste buds going then maybe Slice Boys Newcastle will. Three of the toons top pizza slingers are gracing the Frate stage slinging their signature 16” NYC meets Italian inspired pizzas, available as a mammoth whole pizza or by the slice at the slice bar.

Frate are predominantly a walk-in venue and always hold back the majority of our tables for walk-ups so if you’re not able to / nor want to book in advance don’t worry.

Booths are totally free to reserve. However they will ask for a £10 deposit incase of no shows. (but they do understand plans change so if you can no longer make it just sign in to your ResDiary account 12 hours before your due to visit and it’ll be automatically cancelled free of charge).

Live sport is available to watch via a large screen with music scheduled to provide a great atmosphere.

The venue is dog friendly until 5pm daily so bring your bestie along too. There is also a Photo Booth to step into and catch some photos of you and your friends!

Due to it’s initial popularity they have already acknowledged the service can be improved and are working hard to improve it quickly.

This venue may be a little hidden away but don’t be fooled by the sign that says ‘nothing to see here’ Frate will be the new social hotspot this summer and there is plenty to see here!

Where: High Bridge Square
Opening Hours: Monday-Thursday 5pm- till Late, Friday-Sunday 12pm-2am. – Please check their social media however as times may vary also.
