Innside Newcastle – Melia hotels latest addition

INNSiDE Newcastle is Spanish Hotel group Melia’s foray into this wonderful town of ours, and they’ve certainly gone about integrating themselves ‘INNSiDE’ our beautiful quayside.

We had the opportunity to have a stay at this brand new hotel that opened on 17 May. Staying in a studio room, we were three floors up and had a river view room, overlooking a lovely view of the Quayside’s bridges. Spacious, Smart, Sleek and Open plan. I was impressed with what the room had to offer. A King Size bed, that allowed my wife and I, all the space and more to stretch out and not kick each other. Plenty of wardrobe hanging and shelf space, a comfy sofa bed and separate toilet and shower. Its all about the detail and this room has it.  The separation of the toilet and shower was a good thing that doesn’t happen enough in my opinion. An abundance of happiness rains down when you enter your walk in shower and turn that tap for the rainfall shower to rain down on you. A yoga mat also is provided, and theres definitely plenty of space to practice your downward dog in this 24mspace. The hotel also has a 24 hour gym available too! Combined with a 43” Tv, In room safe, Mini Fridge with complimentary water, tea/coffee making facilities and a hair dryer, I was struggling to find a reason to leave the room. Parking is available, but its on a first come, first served basis.

Busy Exploring i went, with a room that was perfect on arrival and a welcome that was friendly. Down to the lounge bar I went. Seated quickly, we started to explore the drinks menu to see what took my fancy. Beer for me, Moretti my choice on this occasion. You wont find Fosters, Carling or Stella on this menu. Continental draught and bottles.

Prices ranging from £4.85 to £5.85 My wife is an Aperol and Pornstar Martini kinda gal, and she indulged in the large list of spirits and cocktails. Prices here starting from £4.50 a spirit, cocktails at £8-£9 each. Wine can also be bought by the glass and bottle ranging from £5.85 and £20 upwards respectively. Currently it’s table service and there will be staff around to  make sure you’re topped up as you require.

BOOK TO STAY VISIT OFFICIAL WEBSITE Gino D’Acampo has partnered with Melia hotels to bring his signature restaurant to this venue also to Innside Newcastle. The restaurant services the hotel for food, so wether you want to dine in the restaurant, in the lounge or in your room, its coming from the same kitchen. This has been hyped, and they know when they have a good thing going! Prices vary on what you order obviously but as a guide, Brushchetta & Anti Pasti are around the £8.50 mark, Pastas from  £10.50, Pizza from £11.25 and main courses of Meat & Fish from £12.95.

You’ll see comments from Gino, about certain dishes and if you like them, you can note the details as he lists the page from his cookbook for you to make it at home too! This restaurant has the location, the food and Gino’s name. It’s large, it has an abundance of outdoor seating with heaters dotted around and imitiation grass. It will be a go to place on the Quayside. You dont have to be a guest to enjoy it, as it has a seperate entrance also for walk ins too. Open for breakfast between 06:30-1oam (10:30am on Sat/Sun), Lunch & Dinner 12pm-11pm and the Bar Area 12pm-12am or just pop in for drinks.

As I mentioned above, the food was delicious. Our starters consisted of Calamari, with courgette, red pepper, garlic mayonnaise and lemon and a tomato bruschetta. Our mains were a super spicy pizza and crispy chicken. We were both impressed with the freshness and quality of the ingredients used, and the taste that had us wanting for more. Dessert came and this didn’t differ from any other part of the meal so far. Creme Catalonia and Chocolate Souffle. A great way to end the meal.

VISIT RESTAURANT WEBSITE BOOK TO STAY Overall i thought this was a great stay. Innside Newcastle is in a great location, the hotel is smart, without being fancy. It has a real quality of finish and sleek decor. This is one of the destination hotels in Newcastle now, and I will be back to stay and eat for sure. Innside Newcastle has also looked to use local artists and designers to incoroprate artwork into the hotel, which is fantastic. Below are a couple of examples from LinesBehind and Geetz.
