PIXIE LOTT RELEASES FOURTH STUDIO ALBUM, ENCINO
Multi-million selling singer songwriter Pixie Lott, has released her fourth studio album, Encino. The 13-track album is packed full of autobiographical songs of romance, family and nostalgia, and sees Pixie taking control of her career for the first time. Every track is co-written by the pop star, and she delved deeper than ever before to open up and pour every emotion into these songs. Encino started life as a passion project for Pixie but swiftly became far more important than that and she knew this was the record she’d always wanted to make. Feeling authentically her, and leaning on influences such as Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, Joe Cocker and Paul Simon, Encino is the perfect evolution from her debut 15 years ago.
The Encino album campaign kicked off in the Summer, with single Somebody’s Daughter. The song, which was named Record of the Week and stayed on the BBC Radio 2 A-List for 5 weeks, sees Pixie turn her pen towards toxic online behaviour and bullying. Pixie previewed the track on BBC’s The One Show, Good Morning Britain, Sunday Morning Live, ITV News, Channel 5 News and the Chris McCausland show. The album also features recent single, Midnight Trash. Listen to Encino here.
Speaking of the album, Pixie adds: “I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since my last album, but I’m so excited to be back doing what I love the most. I’m taking risks this time. Previously, I’ve gone in the direction others have envisioned for me but nobody really ever pushed me to try the things I wanted. It’s scary but I’m going with my heart now – I want to show other sides of myself. I’ve always wanted to do something with a timeless, classic sound that could be played at any point in time.”
Playing live has always been one of Pixie’s favourite things to do and recently has seen her return, with her phenomenal live band.Over the course of this week, Pixie will play a slew of instores at record shops around the UK, including 3 sold out performances at Kingston’s Banquet, Brighton’s Resident, and Liverpool’s Jacaranda Records for two shows, one of which is sold out. This weekend saw the songstress perform at Watford’s LP Café, and also at Hey Joe’s in Brentwood. Pixie also performed at Radio 2 In The Park in Preston at the beginning of September. Fans were able to preview the record at an intimate sold out show at London’s Hoxton Hall, earlier this summer – see recap here.
Since selling 1.6 million copies of her 2009 debut album Turn It Up,Pixie has notched up three UK No.1 tracks, sold in excess of four million singles, secured four BRIT nominations, won 2 MTV EMA Awards, all while collaborating with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Pusha T, Jason Derulo and Lionel Richie. Elsewhere, she has fronted campaigns for Dolce & Gabbana, performed at Fendi’s Paris Fashion Week, judged The Voice Kids (coaching four winners to victory!), appeared as a guest judge on The X Factor and more.
A rare quadruple threat – singer, songwriter, actress and dancer – Pixie has various other projects in the works. This year she started filming Christmas Karma where she is part of an all star cast including Eva Longoria, Hugh Bonneville, Charithra Chandran, Billy Porter and Boy George to name a few. She also recently starred in the new series of ITV crime drama McDonald and Dodds and took the leading role in Made In Dagenham for a special one-off sold out performance at London’s Palladium.
