‘Love is in the air’ in Sunderland this Valentine’s Weekend

Last updated:

Sunderland is set to transform into the City of Love this Valentine’s Weekend.

The city is launching its very own ‘Love is in the Air’ Valentine’s trail, with creative workshops, tastings and experiences celebrating love in all its forms, on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 February.

From glass heart, candle and card-crafting workshops to Latin dancing lessons, friendship bracelet making and canape and champagne tastings, there’s something for everyone to fall in love with.

Councillor Beth Jones, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Tourism at Sunderland City Council, said: “This is about bringing together loved ones of all ages and connecting the city with our own Valentine’s themed love trail.

“It’s also about celebrating Sunderland’s creativity, warmth and community spirit, and encouraging residents and visitors to explore our wonderful city, support our fantastic local businesses, and celebrate love in all its forms – romantic, friendship and family.

“Working with local businesses we’ve lined up creative workshops, hands on activities, tasting experiences, exclusive promotions and family friendly entertainment at some of the city’s most romantic spots like The Stables at Sheepfolds and The Stack.

“Many of the activities are also either low cost or free, so I’d encourage everyone to pick up a printed trail map at participating venues or download it online and make this a Valentine’s Weekend to Remember.”

Love trail venues include Mowbray Park & Winter Gardens, The Bridges, The Stack, The Stables at Sheepfolds, The Beacon of Light, the National Glass Centre, and Washington Arts Centre.
