InNewcastle.co.uk enters an exciting new era with new ownership and bold new identity

InNewcastle.co.uk is stepping into its next chapter with new ownership, a bold new logo, and an ambitious vision for the promotion of North East culture, events and dining.

The Newcastle-based publication has officially welcomed Stephen Stokoe and Paul Oliver as its new owners. Together, they will lead the next stage of InNewcastle’s development as it prepares to unveil a wider rebrand designed to make the platform more dynamic, more distinctive and even more connected to the region it serves.

The new identity is led by a striking InNewcastle logo, framed by a skyline-inspired illustration celebrating Newcastle and the wider North East. Its new strapline — “North East Culture, Events & Dining” — captures the breadth of the publication’s ambition: bringing together the people, places, performances, flavours, and experiences that make the region unique.

A proud history. A bold future.

InNewcastle.co.uk’s publicly accessible archive reaches back to 6 August 2016, when it published an article about Lin-Manuel Miranda and Harry Potter. Since then, the platform has developed into a guide to what is happening across Newcastle upon Tyne and the wider north east area, covering theatre, music, food and drink, leisure, live events, reviews and local news.

Archived web captures show the site operating publicly by September 2018, underlining its lasting presence as a Newcastle-focused online publication.

Today, its editorial output continues to connect audiences with the venues, businesses, artists, productions, and events shaping the region’s cultural life. Stephen Stokoe said:

InNewcastle has built something of real value: a platform that celebrates the energy, creativity and character of this region. We are delighted to take the publication forward and to give it an even stronger voice, a more recognisable identity and a bigger role in showcasing everything the North East has to offer.” Paul Oliver added:

This is not about leaving the past behind. It is about building on a strong local legacy and opening the door to an exciting new future for InNewcastle, our partners and our audiences.

A massive thank-you to Aaron Whittington

The new owners have paid tribute to Aaron Whittington, who founded InNewcastle.co.uk and is identified as its original Founder & Editor.

“Stephen and Paul would like to express their sincere thanks to Aaron for the commitment, creativity and local insight he has invested in InNewcastle. His work created the foundation on which this next chapter will be built. The new ownership is proud to honour that contribution while developing the platform for the future.”

Aaron’s legacy can be seen in the publication’s long-running commitment to independent venues, local talent, cultural discovery, and the distinctive spirit of Newcastle and the North East.

More to discover, more to come

InNewcastle.co.uk says it works with theatres, live music venues, bars, public-relations agencies, marketing agencies, and influencers to help relevant organisations reach North East audiences. The publication reports a combined social following of more than 19,000 across Facebook and Instagram, alongside an average of 8,000 monthly website visitors and more than 11,000 monthly page views.

This rebrand will bring the website, social channels, and partnership activity under a clearer, more energetic identity. It builds on the publication’s established editorial strengths while creating new opportunities to spotlight the region’s independent businesses, major venues, emerging talent, memorable nights out, and must-see experiences.
